Josephine Butler College is the newest college of the University of Durham, one of Britain's top-rated universities. The College opened in October 2006 as the University's first Durham expansion since 1972, and the first purpose-built self-catering facilities on campus.
The College operates a student scheme called Butler Bikes. Students - or "Butlerites" - pay an annual membership to the Junior Common Room and members are allowed to rent recycled bikes to get around the campus.
Vivian Flowerday, Operations Manager at Josephine Butler College, contacted Glasdon last summer to discuss cycle parking options for the scheme. The new Aero Cycle Shelter met the College's needs perfectly.
Aero's Durapol® Material end panels are self coloured and will not rot, rust, chip or corrode. Durapol doesn't show scratches, can be wiped clean in seconds and never needs painting.
Aero Cycle Shelter is specially designed to stand up to the harshest conditions. We tested the shelter in a wind tunnel at speeds up to 60mph (96kph) - force 10 on the Beaufort scale, enough for a storm warning to be issued - and Aero survived unscathed. You can see video footage of this on the Aero cycle shelter product page.
