Glasdon supported the BHF’s national campaign by supplying red memorial benches to honour survivors of cardiovascular disease.

British Heart Foundation recently celebrated their 65th anniversary with a thought-provoking campaign that has left an impression on communities across the country. With over 8 million people in the UK living with cardiovascular disease, BHF wanted to tell a story of optimism and hope, of scientific progress and real-world impact despite the challenges that persist.
To mark 65 years since BHF began, the charity has highlighted 65 stories of survivors who are alive today thanks to research. Each one of the survivors, whose worlds were turned upside down by their diagnosis, now serve as living proof that lives can be saved.
In conjunction with Saatchi & Saatchi, Raw Research and local councils across the UK, BHF organised the placement of 65 striking red benches in locations around the country. While memorial benches like these are usually fitted with plaques honouring lost loved ones, BHF flipped that idea on its head and turned remembrance into celebration by paying tribute to the inspiring stories of those that survived.

From the heights of the Scottish Highlands to the sunny beaches of Brighton, the new ‘In Living Memory’ campaign serves as a reminder that, while there is plenty more work to be done and plenty more progress to be made, there are also plenty of reasons to be hopeful. The red benches now stand in 65 communities across the nation, each inscribed with the name of a survivor – a mother, a daughter, a son, a spouse, a father, or a grandparent... all of whom are still making memories with their families today.
British Heart Foundation hopes that the benches will continue to be used for years to come, as a place where people in the local community can stop, sit for a while, and make conversation. After all, what better way to honour the soul of the campaign than ensuring the benches remain occupied by warm, beating hearts as often as possible.
Our Role
As a company that cares about giving back to society and creating a better world (and coming off the back of our own 65th anniversary celebrations just a couple of years ago), Glasdon was more than pleased to participate in BHF’s campaign. We supplied three of our Lowther™ seats to councils in Brighton, Bridgend, and Angus, each one coloured in a unique red and featuring custom BHF graphics. These have joined the 62 other benches being installed across the UK in support of the ‘In Living Memory’ campaign.

We are delighted to have played a part in this campaign, and to have helped bring attention to such an important message. To make a donation to the British Heart Foundation or to learn more about the fight against cardiovascular disease, visit their website.
