Glasdon focus on site management at Thornwick & Sea Farm Holiday Centre

Problem identified

Fido 25 mounted to a post

Thornwick & Sea Farm Holiday Centre is a large privately owned site, situated on the famous Flamborough Headland, now a designated Heritage Coast. The holiday centre wished to segregate dog waste from general waste. This required the installation of dog waste bins which would be easily identified by dog owners and also encourage them to clean up after their pets.

When choosing seating and bollards, the site traditionally purchased wooden products, however this created a number of problems. These included very high maintenance costs, in terms of frequent repairs or replacements due to vandalism and constant exposure to the elements.

Solution

Jeremy Waud, Site Manager at Thornwick & Sea Farm Holiday Centre was aware of the extensive range of products offered by Glasdon UK and contacted the company to arrange for a representative to visit. Following a product demonstration, Mr Waud purchased Fido 25™ dog waste bins to be sited at both Thornwick & Sea Farm Holiday Centre and their smaller Greenacre Holiday Centre. Fido 25 is both hygienic and user friendly. Manufactured in Durapol® material, it is strong, durable and virtually maintenance free, with a 25 litre capacity.

Phoenix seating placed back to back

For robust, vandal resistant seating, the Phoenix Seat™ was chosen for siting around the reception and amusement areas and also circling the lake at Greenacres. Ideal for exposed external environments, the Phoenix seat is made from Enviropol® 100% recycled material, offering greater strength and weather resistance. This ensures a long and virtually maintenance-free service life with the added benefit of being environmentally friendly.

To replace the existing bollards, Glasdon UK recommended the impact absorbing Buffer™Bollard. Manufactured entirely from 100% recycled rubber tyres, this low maintenance bollard offers the resilience to withstand parking nudges, requires no painting and will not dent or rust. The Buffer Bollard was the obvious choice to be sited around the car park areas and pathways.

Resulting benefits

The Fido 25 has proved to be an effective solution helping to improve the environmental cleanliness and also offering a very clear message and stylish appearance. The units provide plenty of opportunity for responsible dog owners to clean up after their pets.

Buffer bollards placed along the pavement with retro-reflective bands

The wood-like appearance of the Phoenix seat complements the surrounding areas of both Holiday Centres. Low maintenance has been a particular benefit, as Enviropol seating will not rot and never requires painting. Another important benefit is the robust and heavy-duty construction, which helps to deter vandalism, greatly reducing maintenance costs.

The Buffer Bollard is extremely hard-wearing and requires little maintenance. Car parks and pathways are clearly marked by day and by night, because of the addition of highly visible Retroreflective bands.
