ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Standard

We received the ISO 14001:2004 accreditation for environmental management in 2006, a certification to provide assurance that a company’s environmental impact is being measured and improved. This was reviewed in 2015 and updated to ISO 14001:2015 which is the current standard, used to:

  • Demonstrate compliance with current and future statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Increase leadership involvement and engagement of employees
  • Improve company reputation and the confidence of stakeholders through strategic communication
  • Achieve strategic business aims by incorporating environmental issues into business management
  • Provide a competitive and financial advantage through improved efficiencies and reduced costs
  • Encourage better environmental performance of suppliers by integrating them into the organisation’s business systems

EcoVadis Silver Rating

In 2026 we received a Silver EcoVadis rating for our sustainability performance.

EcoVadis ratings cover Environmental impacts, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. They have over 75,000 trading partners worldwide and work to positively impact environments, drive motivation and promote transparency.

Waste Electrical & Electronical Equipment (WEEE) Producer Compliance

Glasdon are a member of the Recycling Lives Compliance Services WEEE Producer Compliance Scheme, a regulation that seeks to ensure waste is recovered, treated and recycled responsibly as demanded by the Environmental Agency.

Being a member of this compliance service ensures we are able to balance the environmental impact of our products wherever possible and comply with WEEE regulations.

Landfill Diversion Statement

Working with SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of waste by diverting it from landfill. Together with Glasdon UK, SUEZ are leading the way in landfill diversion and advancing a circular economy.

The Green Web Foundation Green Hosting

In 2020 we migrated our Glasdon websites over to Google Cloud hosting. Google Cloud is a carbon neutral hosting platform, utilising 100% renewable energy for all cloud regions. As a result, all Glasdon websites are run on green, renewable sources.

Environment Agency Waste Carrier & Dealer Registration

Glasdon are certified as an upper tier waste carrier and dealer under the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 with the Environment Agency. We are committed to following the waste management hierarchy, focusing on:

  • Prevention of waste
  • Preparation of waste for re-use
  • Recycling of Waste
  • Waste Recovery i.e. energy and water
  • Waste Disposal
  • Hazardous Waste Control

Recycle-Pak Producer Responsibility Obligation (Packaging Waste) Regulation

We have been successfully meeting the requirements on packaging and packaging waste as set out by the EU directive since 2012.

Introduced to reduce the amount of packaging sent to landfill, this regulation requires commercial companies to recycle the amount of packaging they produce and provide evidence of compliance as a more sustainable approach to dealing with waste.

Forest Products Chain-of-Custody (COC) Standard and Certification

Glasdon are a supplier of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified hardwood benches and as such have been accredited with the FSC Chain-of-Custody Certification. This standard verifies that FSC-certified material has been identified and separated from non-certified and non-controlled material as it makes its way along the supply chain, from the forest to the market.

This provides credible confirmation for products with environmentally and socially responsible sources to access the market.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Standard

We first achieved BS5750 in 1991, which was transferred to ISO 9000 in 1994. In 2004 we achieved the quality standard ISO 9001:2000. This was updated in 2008 and then again in 2015 to the current standard ISO 9001:2015, which Glasdon is accredited to. This standard is based on quality management principles including:

Fair Payment Code

We are committed to offering fair payment for all our business partners, contractors, distributors and suppliers, and we have been awarded the Gold Award for the high standard of our payment practices.

Administered by the Office of the Small Business Commissioner on behalf of the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), the Fair Payment Code ensures suppliers are paid on time to the agreed terms and encourages good practice and communication between partners.

ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Standard

In 2019 we were accredited with the ISO 45001:2018 standard for occupational health and safety (OH&S), which was first introduced by ISO in 2018 as part of a movement to drastically improve levels of workplace safety.

This new standard aims to increase safety, reduce workplace risks and enhance health and well-being at work by providing a framework that companies can utilise in their OH&S management systems.

CDM Regulations Compliance with CHAS Standards

We achieved the CHAS accreditation to the requirements of the Construction (Design Management) regulations in line with UK Health & Safety Legislation in 2013.

The CDM regulations aim to ensure the safety and welfare of all people involved in construction projects, by ensuring project duties and responsibilities are divided appropriately to ensure risks are managed throughout the entire construction process.

RoSPA Membership

We are a member of RoSPA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents), an organisation dedicated to reducing injuries and saving lives by enhancing skills and knowledge of how to minimise work-based risks.

Being a RoSPA member allows us to further develop our health and safety initiatives in the workplace and demonstrates our commitment to the welfare of our employees, contractors and all Glasdon personnel.

Living Wage Accreditation Employer

In 2022, we continued our commitment to create an environment where our employees feel valued and received accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.

The move ensures that all staff (apart from apprentices) across the Glasdon businesses in the UK receive at least the real Living Wage.

In 2023, we achieved Gold status as a Cycle Friendly Employer with Cycling UK.

The Cycle Friendly Employer award is an international benchmark for active travel culture, infrastructure and policies in the workplace. We completed the self-assessment and rigorous site audit and we’re proud to have achieved the highest accreditation of Gold status for our employees.

Achilles UVDB Supplier

In 2022, we received accreditation as an Achilles UVDB Supplier.

Achilles Utilities Vendor Database (UVDB) is the UK utility industry pre-qualification system. Designed to manage and mitigate risks in the supply chain, the UVDB cooperates with the sector’s buying organisations to ensure the highest standard of supply chain assurance.

Our registration as an Achilles UVDB supplier applies to more than 20 categories including Recycling Equipment, Enclosures and Kiosks and Street Lighting and Accessories.

RISQS Accredited Supplier

In 2022, we became a certified RISQS supplier.

RISQS is the rail industry supplier assurance programme. Assessing chain protocols, procedures, and policies, RISQS accreditation removes supply chain risk by ensuring suppliers demonstrate the right capabilities to supply the industry.

Glasdon is compliant with the requirements of the Cyber Essentials Plus Scheme.

Green Apple Environment Award

In 2024, we received a Green Apple Award for our work in in Recycled Product Innovation. We achieved this for our Origin™ Litter and Recycling Bin range that is 100% recyclable at the end of its service. Following this, in 2025 we received another Green Apple Award for our Endurokerb™ Cycle Lane Defenders, which provide a sustainable & cost-effective alternative to traditional concrete kerbing.

RLSS UK Water Safety Partner 2026

The RLSS water safety partnerships are mutually beneficial commercial agreements designed to ensure the RLSS UK name is synonymous with high standard products and services, industry innovation, and an ongoing dedication to educating people in water safety and promoting safe water-based activities. We also benefit from RLSS UK safety guidance and have a common interest with the RLSS to help improve water safety whilst encouraging safe and enjoyable participation.

Green World Award

By winning a Green Apple Award in 2024, Glasdon were also eligible for The Green World Awards in 2025, the highest tier of award that allows companies and organisations to win environmental recognition not only for themselves, but also for their home countries.

We are delighted to announce that we have secured a silver Green World Award 2025 for our Origin® Curve and Origin® Horizon litter and recycling bins.

Alongside this achievement, Glasdon are now recognised as Green World Ambassadors for helping others to help the environment. Our award-winning paper will also feature in the 29th volume of ‘The Green Book’, a published work of reference for environmental best practice across the globe.

We are a member of ARTSM (the Association for Road Traffic Safety and Management), an association that maintains strong links to other trade bodies, public authorities, academia and NGO representatives across all of Europe and the EU.
