Visitors to our websites
When someone visits a Glasdon Website, we will collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source. We will make it clear when we do collect personal information for example on a site registration page.
Glasdon Cookie Usage
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files which a website may put on your computer or mobile device when you first visit a site or page. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
Cookies serve many functions, for example, they can help websites to remember your username and preferences or analyse how well a website is performing.
Most cookies will not collect information that identifies you, and will instead collect more geographical information such as how users arrive at and use websites, or a user's geographical location.
What sort of cookies are there?
There are two broad categories of cookies:
- Persistent cookies
Persistent cookies remain on your device until deleted manually or automatically.
- Session cookies
Session cookies remain on your device until you close your browser when they are automatically deleted.
Cookies are used for different reasons:
- Essential cookies
Essential cookies are technical cookies that are required for the operation of websites. Without essential cookies websites can not operate properly. Essential cookies include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas.
- Performance cookies
- Experience cookies
Experience cookies allow websites to remember the choices you make. They allow websites to provide you with enhanced and personalised features. For example, they can use information collected through what are known as web-analytic cookies to compare the choices you make to those of other customers so that companies can learn from those choices. Information collected by experience cookies cannot track your browsing activity when you leave the website to browse other sites.
- Marketing cookies or Behavior Targeted cookies
Marketing cookies record your visits to websites, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. This information is used to make websites and the advertising displayed on them more relevant to your interests. For example sometimes marketing cookies are used to limit the number of times that you see an advert. They may use this information to advertise products, which may interest you, on other sites.
Glasdon use third party shopping carts and payment gateways for the purchase of our products. When paying for a product using a credit card, you will be directed to a secure payment screen operated by the Payment Company. If you choose to register on their site, to enable you to quickly purchase in future without having to enter you address information again, then these will be stored in a cookie.
These cookies are not placed on your device or controlled by Glasdon.
Can a website user block cookies?
Do we track whether users open our emails?
Our emails may contain a single, campaign-unique web beacon pixel to tell us whether our emails are opened and verify any clicks through to links within the email. We may use this information for purposes including determining which of our emails are more interesting to users. The pixel will be deleted when you delete the email. If you do not wish the pixel to be downloaded to your device, you should select to receive emails from us in plain text rather than HTML.
