Motorway service operator Welcome Break has been shortlisted for the Retail/Service Sector Recycler of the Year award at the prestigious National Recycling Awards.
The firm, which operates 27 motorway service areas across the United Kingdom, is a long-standing Glasdon customer, and contacted us looking for a specialist recycling solution to reduce the volume of waste sent to landfill.
Our dedicated research & development and sales teams worked with Welcome Break to trial the new Combo Tray Front and Liquid Reservoir Recycling Bins. Over the last twelve months the four-step recycling stations have proved hugely successful, and Welcome Break has rolled them out across the full estate.
The Welcome Break recycling system features four individual recycling bins sited in a bank, as shown in the photo. All four containers feature the front tray shelf to allow diners to use both hands when they sort and recycle their waste.
The first step is for the customer to empty the dregs from any cans, bottles or cups they've used. In the second bin, customers are asked to throw out any food waste. The third recycling unit is for packaging - cans, plastic, card or paper from their meal or snack. Finally, a general waste bin is placed at the end to collect anything that doesn't fit in the first three categories.
By introducing Combo Tray Shelf and Liquid Reservoir Recycling Bins, Welcome Break has achieved significant reductions in the volume of waste sent to landfill. Congratulations to everyone at the company for their well-deserved recognition! To read about the nomination, click here.
