Be prepared for snow and ice as weather meteorologists predict the coldest winter in the United Kingdom for 65 years. The Met Office now believe that they can predict that this year we will see harsh winter weather.

It comes down to the El Nino weather phenomenon. This is a complex weather pattern which results in variations of the ocean temperature in the Equatorial Pacific.

They occur every two to seven years and during the last in 2009/10 the winter across Northern Europe was extremely cold.
