The established Garrison Modular Housing range has provided unique solutions to numerous challenging and individual applications for over 40 years, with our client’s specific needs always at the forefront. Since 2017, Garrison has been the mobile Telecom industry’s preferred choice for the provision of robust, durable and high-quality GRP Foul Weather Enclosures (FWE’s) for various network installations within the UK. To date, more than 250 No. fixed specification enclosures have been supplied, predominantly throughout the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, often in remote and inaccessible locations.

The Challenge
WHP Telecoms reached out to us in March 2024 regarding the urgent provision of a Garrison FWE to one of their live projects at that time in the Scottish Highlands, to protect critical telecoms equipment. The location in question was one of the highest altitude cell sites in the UK (at 1080m above sea level) and extremely exposed, with windspeeds up to 124mph likely to be encountered.
The Solution
Our Garrison™ (GRP) Modular Housing Range was selected due to its proven track record for the provision of safe, secure equipment accommodation in similar demanding applications. For complete piece of mind, swift (independent) structural analysis of the enclosure confirmed its suitability for this extreme site.
Supplied with an electrical installation comprising of lighting, power, ventilation, and cable management to minimise installation time on site, the Garrison FWE fully complies with relevant telecoms industry specifications and can be quickly and easily tailored to meet individual customer requirements.
Due to the restrictive mountain top site, our standard method of fully assembled delivery and offloading via a suitable crane-equipped vehicle was not possible, nor was optional kit-form supply, followed by on site assembly, either by our own experienced workforce or the clients own appointed operatives. Instead, rotating lifting eyes were fitted to allow delivery to final site by helicopter!
The Result
In accordance with the clients end of May 2024 deadline, assembly of the Garrison FWE was fully completed and transported within close proximity of the mountain top location. From there, WHP Telecoms then arranged for a suitable Helicopter to airlift the enclosure up to the cell site and safely land it onto the prepared concrete base, where it was securely base fixed and sealed by their own experienced site engineers.
