F.A.Q

Keyed or Keyless?

Ledande bild

Glasdon litter bins are designed not just for their durability and aesthetics, but also for operational efficiency and security. To meet a variety of site requirements, many of our hooded litter bins are available with either a keyed lock or a keyless opening system.

Option 1: Keyed Locks – Security and Visual Deterrence

For customers whose prime goal is preventing unauthorised access or vandalism, a keyed lock remains the preferred choice.

  • Enhanced Security: The physical presence of a visible, keyed lock acts as a strong deterrent against unauthorised personnel attempting to open and tamper with the bin's contents.
  • Standard Option: Keyed locks are often specified almost by default by certain sectors and customers, who view them as a standard security measure.

Option 2: Keyless Opening System – Operational Efficiency

Keyless opening systems offer significant benefits for waste management officials, providing a fast and highly efficient way to empty bins.

  • Speed and Ease-of-Use: Keyless systems are quick and simple to operate, which is invaluable when you have a large number of bins to service.
  • Streamlined Operations: For local authorities who manage a variety of bin styles across different sites, choosing a keyless system means:
    • One less key to carry and to remember the corresponding bin for.
    • Reduced risk of losing a key and incurring replacement costs.
